Step 1: Find Your Ward Office
Nagoya has 16 ward offices. Register at the one for your residential ward. Popular wards for foreign residents include Naka, Minato, and Nakamura.
Step 2: Prepare Your Documents
Bring your Residence Card, Passport, and any address documents from your previous location if moving within Japan.
Step 3: Visit and Submit
Head to the Resident Registration counter. The Nagoya International Center (NIC) offers free phone interpretation that ward offices can access to assist you.
Step 4: Get Your Residence Card Updated
Your new Nagoya address will be printed on the back of your Residence Card on the spot.
